CJRRC's Board of Directors Meeting April 9, 2008 Present: Tom Brand, George Kunak, Fran Libasci, Valerie Lieberman, Mike Metzger, Marty Slutsky, Ginny Platania. Absent: Baxter Brooks, Rachel Manning.
The Board discussed, voted upon and agreed to the following item:
1. Three changes to the club’s Constitution were voted on and approved by the Board. The three changes are posted elsewhere on this website. In accordance with the constitution, the changes will be presented at the club’s April 24th meeting and will be voted on by all those present at the May 29th meeting.
The Board also discussed, and where appropriate, agreed upon the following items:
1. Reviewed the status of the June Moon race. Of particular note:
a. The course has been USATF certified. b. An additional RRCA insurance certificate that provides liability coverage for the USATF was obtained. c. Mark Zenobia and Ray Smith will provide support for the race as they have in the past. d. A race application will be placed in the June/July edition of the Metro Race Forum.
2. The idea of a club championship race was discussed. A preliminary conclusion was not to have this event because of the lack of sufficient participation to make the competition meaningful. The possibility of an alternative event will be discussed with the club’s members.
3. In the future, we will estimate the profitability of our club’s races based on the registration fees received and the expenses that are paid. We will also estimate the profitability of last year’s races based on the records that are available.
4. The status of the Step-by-Step classes that will begin on April 22nd was discussed. A large number of students have signed up, there are a sufficient number of volunteer coaches and there were no significant issues. We also decided not to have a summer Step-by-Step session.
The Board also agreed that we should request assistance from the entire club in the following matter:
Finding sponsors and volunteers for the June Moon race. We've recently had difficulty getting enough volunteers at our races. As a club, we need to encourage a few more volunteers to help with our club’s races.
