Who We Are

CJRRC was founded so many years ago no one seems to remember exactly when that was. Suffice it to say 2009 marks our 27th New Year’s Day Hangover Run 5K,  our 12th June Moon 5K, and our 32nd Fall Classic race.

Renowned running guru Dr. George Sheehan was one of the club's founding members and a frequent guest speaker at our meetings.

We are a 501 (C)3 organization dedicated to promoting running and racing to people of all ages, educating people about how to run safely and smartly and encouraging camaraderie among all runners.

With around 300 members from throughout the state, as well as out of state, CJRRC members range in age from teens to their 80’s; some run only a few miles a week and some ultra distances. All abilities are welcome and supported. Some of our runners are highly competitive and others run for recreation.

We hold regular meetings in Cranford featuring guest speakers on various topics of interest to runners; sponsor three races annually; and go as a group to the horse races in Monmouth Park or to see a baseball game in Patriots Stadium in Bridgewater.

CJRRC offers running classes for beginning and experienced runners.  Classes include Step 1: Intro to Running; Step 1 1/2 for those who wish to conquer their first 5k; and a Training for the 10k class (experienced runners).

Membership entitles you to 6 editions of our newsletter, Footprints, to discounts at several area running stores and to wear our club colors in USATF championship races. We are a USATF member club and encourage all our members to join USATF. Most of all, belonging to CJRRC is just that: It's a place where you belong, no matter how far or  fast or slowly you run.
